Enhancement Project A newly remodeled, state-of-the-art Business & Technology Center on the 5th floor of the Erik J. Johnsson Central Libray opened in December 1998. The project, funded by a $1 million gift from Mrs. Nancy Hamon in honor of her husband, Jake L. Hamon, established the Nancy and Jake L. Hamon Oil And Gas Resource Center. Users of the enhanced 5th floor will find: A reconfigured and remodeled public service space that maximizes the existing space and creates a more customer oriented environment that facilitates research and learning. The newly established Nancy and Jake L. Hamon Oil and Gas Resource Center. State-of-the-art technology with networked computer workstations providing the latest in electronic information primarily related to oil and gas. Current printed collections are being upgraded with new purchases and existing resources are being updated to provide a more comprehensive and current collection with emphasis on investments, financial management, industry surveys and statistics within the oil and gas industry. A newly created 1,200 sq. ft. public training room, The Hamon center, to be utilized by staff to instruct users in searching a myriad of electronic databases related to business and technology. The gift also established a permanent endowment that will provide a continuous source of funds,matched by City funds, to maintain up-to-date oil and gas resources.
