About Current Collection

A part of the General Reference Division, Current Collection is the "popular reading" section of the Library. It contains works on a variety of subjects for the general reader, whereas the other Central divisions go into their subjects more in-depth. Current Collection is designed to be a cross between a Branch library and a bookstore.

  • Bestsellers and New Material
New fiction, including genres, and non-fiction titles are displayed on rows 9 and 10 until the Current Collection department has had them for one year.

  • Older Americans & Physically Challenged Adults
Includes large print materials, Reading Edge: a Kurzweil Reader; a Human Ware machine which projects enlarged letters from print material onto a computer screen and computer.

  • Young Adult and Teen Area
The Young Adult and Teen Area carries material for patrons between the ages of 12 and 18. Young adult carries the following materials and information: fiction, non-fiction; biographies; college and scholarship information; career information; humor and comic books, paperback sci fic/fantasy, romance, fiction and mystery/horror; classic literature books; and music CD's.
