About the General Reference Division

The General Reference Division of the Dallas Public Library is available to provide telephone reference assistance to residents of the city of Dallas. We'll help you find out about people, businesses, places, library programs, organizations, current events, sports, government, grammar, spelling, definitions, statistics, weights and measures, distances and much, much more.

Residents and non-residents are welcome to visit us on the first floor of the J. Erik Jonsson Central Library in downtown Dallas. We can show you how to use the online computer catalog, find materials and information in the library and on the internet, use periodical indexes to find magazine articles, arrange for a database search in a specific area, use equipment for the visually impaired, consult mail-order catalogs, locate addresses from U.S. and foreign phone directories and more...
