William E. Jary (1912-1989) a Fort Worth businessman, collected materials on a variety of topics over a period of 40-50 years. This collection contains newspaper articles, brochures and assorted other ephemera items concerning Dallas history; Texas cities. towns, counties; and Western folklore. A portion of this collection contains souvenir items, collector's items, clippings, and booklets from the Texas Centennial. Labels originally created by Mr. Jary were retained in order to protect the provenance of the materials. The folders themselves were changed for preservation purposes.
This material represents only a portion of Mr. Jary's collecting interest. Materials relating to Ft. Worth, the Frontier Centennial celebration and a variety of other items similar to this collection are housed at the University of Texas at Arlington, Special Collections.
