Mail Reference Requests
We offer a limited reference service through the mail, including obituary requests. The library charges a $10.00 nonrefundable research fee that entitles you to 30 minutes of staff time and up to 2 photocopies (additional photocopies are $1.00/page). To initiate a request, send a check or money order payable to the Dallas Public Library (TX residents add 8.25% sales tax) and a written request for research to the above address. Patrons are limited to two requests per month (1-hour, $20.00). Requests that do not include full payment or exceed a users allotment for the month will be returned unanswered.

You are welcome to contact us via email with general questions about the library and the department, to seek guidance about how to use our collections, or about access to our holdings. Email inquiries are answered as they are received as staff time permits, so please allow a few days for a response. If you need immediate assistance, please call our reference desk at 214-670-1435.
Staff presentations
Texas/Dallas staff members are available to present talks about the collection and its use to local clubs and organizations. Please contact the division manager if you are interested in arranging a presentation.
