Read, Discover & Create


  • Kids ages 0 to 18 are challenged to read, discover and create May 30 to August 8!

  • For every 10 days of reading or being read to, kids earn a free book of their choice, up to 3 times over the summer.

  • After completing 10 discovery activities and 10 create activities, kids earn a free food coupon, up to 2 times over the summer. While supplies last.

  • Kids who complete 30 days of reading, make 10 discoveries and create 10 new things by August 8 will be entered in the grand prize drawing!

  • New this summer: Kids can earn an additional prize by practicing reading comprehension skills.


How it Works

1. Sign up at dallaslibrary.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack app.

2. Click the green Log Reading and Activities button to log days of reading or activities. Printable Challenge Log.

3. Read 20 minutes a day for 10 days to earn a reading badge. All reading counts such as books, magazines, comics, eBooks, audiobooks, listen to someone to read, etc.

4. Complete 10 activities to earn an activity badge. Discover or learn 10 new things to earn a discover badge. Create or make 10 new things to earn a create badge.

5. Each reading badge earns a free book of your choice, up to 3 times over the summer.

6. Each activity badge earns a food coupon, up to 2 times over the summer.

7. Complete 30 days of reading, make 10 discoveries and create 10 new things by August 9 to be entered to win a grand prize!

8. New this summer: Earn an additional prize by completing the Super Reader activity badge. Select any book to read and practice your reading comprehension skills by answering basic questions about what you read.



Not Just for Kids!

Adults can have a SMART Summer, too!

  • Adults ages 18 and up who read, discover or create can earn prizes.

  • After logging 15 days of reading, earn a free book up to 3 times throughout the summer.

  • After logging 5 activities, adults can either pick up book or a prize from the adult goodie bag up to 2 times over the summer.

  • Adults who complete a combination of 45 days of reading, 5 discoveries, and 5 creations by August 9 will be entered to win a grand prize!


How it Works

  1. Sign up at dallaslibrary.beanstack.org or on the Beanstack app.

  2. Click the green Log Reading and Activities button to log days of reading or activities.

  3. Log 15 days of reading and earn a free book up to 3 times throughout the summer.

  4. Create or make something new! Create 5 things and receive a prize from the prize bag. Suggested Activities: Draw or create art, create a recipe, write a story or poem, write a play, write a song, music, or etc.

  5. Discover or learn something new! Learn 5 new things and receive a prize from the prize bag.

  6. Complete a combination of 45 days of reading and/or activities by August 9 to be entered to win a grand prize!
