Notary Services
Notary services are available for free and provided during regular business hours at the following locations. Dallas Public Library notaries are limited to 2 documents or 2 visits per person per month, whichever comes first. Availability of Notary will vary by location. Please call ahead.
Be prepared before you arrive:
Identification - Bring a current and valid, U.S. Federal or State government issued photo ID for all individuals who seek notary services. Foreign passports and other non-U.S. identification cannot be accepted.
Documents - Bring all documents needing notarization. Documents should be complete, ready for signature and include a notarial certificate of acknowledgment. A Notary Public cannot determine type of notarial certificate. This must be selected by the document maker.
Person(s) Present for Notarization - Any person(s) whose name(s) appear on documents must be present in order for the Notary service to be performed. Please do not request that we deviate from this important requirement.
Witnesses - If your documents require witness(es), you must bring them with you. Library staff and other customers cannot serve as witnesses.
***If you need legal advice, please consult an attorney. A Notary Public is prohibited from providing, helping you to prepare, complete, or understand legal documents. Our Notary Publics reserve the right to refuse to notarize any document for any reason.***
