Dallas Public Seed Library

Dallas Public Seed Library & Pollinator Gardens

Farmers and home gardeners have been saving and sharing seeds with each other for thousands of years. When planting a garden, it's important to use the best plants to help our pollinator friends get the job done. Native plants are best because they have adapted together for our local climate, this means less work in keeping them alive. Here are some reasons to start saving seeds and growing again:

  • To increase agricultural biodiversity

  • To ensure the resilience of our food supply

  • To become more self-sufficient as individuals and a community

There is a circulating collection of open-pollinated and heirloom seeds at the Dallas Public Library!

Check-Out Seeds & Donations

We invite you to check-out seeds from our Seed Library locations or use our online Customer Seed Request form to place seeds on hold to pick up at your closest Dallas Public Library location.

Donations help keep our collection sustainable! We don't require borrowers to return seed to us, but we encourage you to let your plants "go to seed," and return some of those seeds to the library.

To make a seed donation, please fill out the Seed Library Donation form or pick one up at your nearest location. Return the donation form and seeds to your closest Dallas Public Library location in person or by mail. Seeds must be clean, dry, clearly labeled, and in a sealed container.
